Rated 2 out of 5 by from Love/hate relationship As the title states, I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this foundation and have ultimately opted for a different product. I want to love it, I really do, but it's like a bad boyfriend - great at first then not quite what you thought it was. I'll start by addressing a couple of 'issues' mentioned in other reviews. Colour - A lot of people have complained about No7 changing the shades. I must have bought mine after this as the 'new' shades people have been mentioning were all that was on offer when I purchased. I'd used the Match Made service before for lipstick so knew which shade/two shades were right for my skin and opted for the slightly darker of the two - warm beige. Perfect colour (for me at least) without being orangey or getting darker through the day. Smell - It's also been mentioned that the foundation smells bad/clinical. I can't say I agree, I actually really like the smell and as people said, you can't smell it all once it's on your skin. Drying - I'm aware that this is very much dependant on skin type and that results of any product will vary from user to user as skin types can vary so widely. Personally, I have combination/oily skin with certain dry spots - essentially, my T-zone and just around my nose can be quite oily, my cheeks are 'normal' and my chin can be quite dry (due to acne treatments to deal with my horrible breakouts in this area). Even on my dry patches, I didn't find this foundation particularly dried my skin. Though I would, as with any foundation, recommend moisturising (especially if you have areas prone to dryness) before using and allowing a few minutes for this to soak in before applying. So overall, off to a good start with the Beautifully Matte. Now let me get onto my favourite point and one, it seems, is slightly controversial. Coverage. I have acne bad enough that it requires prescription medication along with a whole host of acne scars, blemishes and an uneven skin tone. The coverage this foundation provides is nothing short of AMAZING. All of my redness, spots, blemishes and scars are covered and pretty much invisible to the naked eye. Obviously you can still see the presence of lumpy/bumpy spots - no foundation can make them magically sink back in but it really did the trick of making them less noticeable. I applied some of the No7 crème touch powder (which I love) and would be set for the day. And here's where it all comes tumbling down... this foundation provides incredible coverage and looks matte for all of a few hours. After this, it starts to look shiny on my T-zone and melty (for lack of a better word) round my nose and chin creases, essentially creating lines that weren't there to begin with. At this point, trying to add more powder on top just leads to that awful cakey look, especially under the nose/above the lip area. I love this foundation so much but I just could not get it to stay on for as long as I needed it to. I tried it without moisturising and with a mattifying primer (a different brand) and whilst this improved the longevity somewhat, it still slid away by the end of the day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No.7 foundation It's not very often I buy the same foundation twice but I so have with this one...I'm on my 3rd bottle and haven't used anything else since...the best foundation I've used in a long time..and I used to be a double wear fan...great coverage, lasts all day, great colour match too.. Easy pump bottle which lets u see when you're nearly at the end...definitely worth the money and I shall continue to use this...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Value for money Good, build-able coverage - as a sufferer of acne I am impressed by this product's ability to cover redness and marks. Matte coverage - as promised, the finish really is matte and blends into the skin nicely. Would not agree with its claim to be shine free for up to 12 hours - however those with non-oily skin types might disagree. Good value for money - cheap! But works as well and even better than some more expensive foundations.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent coverage but matte formula does not apply easy My only problem with this product is that it is hard to apply in the sense that the matte formula does not spread/ blend easy. I have to mix in some moisturizer or primer in order to get even coverage. Once on though the coverage is decent and lasts all day

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't believe this has such good reviews Just about the worst makeup I've ever used. It's like clown makeup. Feels horrible on the skin too. Don't waste your money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favourite Foundation!! This foundation is incredible. I've tried so many different foundations but I keep coming back to this one. It's definitely medium - full coverage and never looks cakey, and doesn't irritate my oily, acne prone skin. Will definitely be repurchasing!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good choice for oily or combination skin After being matched at the counter I bought a bottle in the shade Cool Vanilla around six months ago. This has been the only foundation I have used since my purchase and even though I wear make up whenever I leave the house, I am still only 2/3 into the bottle, since you need very little to get good coverage. I apply this with my finger or a damp make up sponge. I have very oily skin with the occasional spot and lots of blackheads to cover. I am very happy with the coverage and one layer of foundation is sufficient to cover blemishes but at the same time doesn't make you look like you're wearing a mask. The containment of oil is good when worn without a primer and I get approximately 4 hours out of it before having to use blotting paper. With a primer I get six hours without having to blot the oil. I don't generally add setting powder because I don't like the heavy make up look it gives but with regular blotting I don't think a powder is necessary. I am sure that when used in combination with a powder the foundation would come closer to the 12 hours advertised. I have to stress that my skin is very oily, not just moderately oily but very oily. On a negative, the foundation does sink into pores and the 2-3 ice pick scars I have on my cheeks, which can look unflattering and is the reason I am on the look out for another foundation at the moment. With the many options there are, I am confident that I will find my ''holly grail'' foundation. However, I am definitely happy to keep using this foundation until I've found a better one. I would even repurchase this. TIP: The foundation has the potential to cake under the eye due to fine lines. I avoid this by moisturising the under eye area twice and then - before applying foundation to the rest of my face - applying an under eye highlighter/concealer first and then applying my foundation below where the thin skin of the ''bag area'' starts (keeping it a few mm below that sensitive area and blending the highlighter/concealer and the heavier foundation with a damp sponge).
